About Me

My work with animals started early. Before working with dogs, I cared for, exercised, and competed horses in Eventing. I also worked as a kennel tech and in-home pet sitter for several years. While living in Tennessee, I worked for a dog trainer who specializes in behavior modification as well as training and titling dogs for the sport of IGP, formerly known as Schutzhund/IPO, which is a three-phase dog sport consisting of obedience, tracking, and protection. While there I also trained pet dogs through board and train, and private and group lessons.
My goal is to show you how training your dog can be fun and teach you the proper ways to clearly communicate and develop a strong positive relationship with them.
I have a bachelor’s degree in business, with a major in marketing from the University of Hawaii at Mānoa, Shidler College of Business.
In my free time, I train and compete in the sport IGP with my Belgian Malinois, Hōkū, and my German Shepherd, Decker.
I am always striving to be a better trainer, eager to learn more about dog training and dog behavior by attending seminars and classes with my personal dogs, working with fellow trainers, and reading, listening, and watching up-to-date content.
